Winter floods have savaged roads, parks and trails, but the weather has settled down enough that hikers are venturing out again. After checking hiking Web sites and a weather forecast, I headed toward the lower-elevation trails of North Bend.
As I drove, I noted storm damage -- mudslides pushed up against the shoulder of Interstate 90 -- and saw where trees had fallen, or were about to, beside the road. Had it really been only a few days ago that parts of North Bend were flooded, Snoqualmie and Duvall cut off by rising rivers?
